The Panther Group, which operates a number of corrugated plants throughout Germany, has joined the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi).
The goal is to limit global warming to 1.5 degrees in accordance with the Paris Agreement. The more than 3,200 industrial companies already united in the initiative have committed themselves to halving current emissions by 2030 and to achieving net-zero emissions by 205o.
Since the Panther Group was founded 120 years ago, it has been on a continuous path of development, based on the manufacture and conversion of corrugated board. Sustainability has always been an integral part of the corporate strategy. The commitment now made by the Group, and thus the achievement of the defined goals, is further proof of this commitment.
The SBTi, supported by the CDP/Carbon Discloser Project, the UN Global Compact, the World Resources Institute/WIR and the WWF, encourages companies in setting ambitious emission reduction targets in line with the latest climate science findings. It defines and promotes best practices in science-based goal setting, provides resources and guidance to remove barriers to adoption, and independently assesses and approves organizations’ goals.
The company uses flexo preprint and postprint in the production of its packaging products.
